In order to escape the civil war that erupted between Burundi and Rwanda, Emeline’s family migrated to Tanzania and lived in the refugee camp for over a decade. After much wait, Emeline’s family was granted the opportunity to come to the United States. Both her mother and father have worked hard to support the family of eight. Emily admires her parents for the sacrifices they have made for her family. After graduating high school, she began working on her bachelor’s degree in nursing at Texas Women’s University and hoping to get into a physical assistant program after finishing her bachelor’s degree.
