Samuel, a refugee from Liberia, moved to the United States with his family when he was just four months old after living in a refugee camp in the Ivory Coast. Although assimilating to a new country and language was very difficult, Samuel worked hard when he was in school. While in middle school, he earned the Sam Tasby award for his association in school organizations and having high academic achievement. While attending high school, Samuel was also enrolled in college classes and earned an associate degree in science along with his high school diploma. Samuel is now attending The University of Texas and is pursuing his dream of becoming either an electrical engineer or architect.
