Sarah Bi Noor Alam
Sarah and her family have faced many obstacles in life. Although Sarah’s family lived in Thailand for many years her family did not have legal status because her parents were originally from Myanmar. As a result of not having legal status, Sarah was not able to attend middle school after elementary school unless her parents paid for school. At that time her parents could not afford to pay for school because of the poverty they were living in. In May 2016, her family was given the opportunity to emigrate to the United States. Coming to the United States allowed her to have the opportunity to continue to go to school. While is school, Sarah was able to obtain both her high school diploma and associates degree at the same time. Sarah is now attending the University of Texas, Arlington and is pursuing her dream of becoming a nurse.
